In the period from April 27 to May 1, a delegation from the Astrakhan region led by the Minister of Industry and Trade Ilya Volynsky visited the international exhibition IranExpo2024 in Tehran.

The Minister shared the results of negotiations on further cooperation between the Astrakhan Oblast and the regions of Iran, as well as on the possibility of increasing cargo turnover through the ports of Astrakhan in the direction of Iran. He also noted the successful negotiations on the establishment of joint ventures in the field of pharmaceutical industry on the territory of the special economic zone "Lotos".

Important meetings were held with representatives of "Anzali" SEZ and Deputy Governor of Gilan province. The Minister emphasized that the volume of trade turnover between the Astrakhan region and Iran continues to grow, in export terms it is grain, oil and lumber, and in import terms - fruits, vegetables and cement. This growth has led to a doubling of cargo traffic at the ports of Astrakhan and Olya in the first three months of 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year, which amounted to 51%. Last year about 2 million tons of grain was handled in the ports of Astrakhan region, and for the incomplete 2024 - 1 million tons. In conclusion, the Minister expressed his expectation of a record volume of cargo transportation in the current year.
