A meeting on the development of the transportation complex of the Astrakhan region was held in Moscow under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev. The participants discussed a number of urgent tasks for the region: expansion of the air transportation route network, development of port infrastructure, regulation of transportation services in the field of passenger transportation, the press service of the Russian government reports. One of the key issues on the agenda was the launch of the pilot project of introduction of electronic transport waybills for organization of cargo transportation in the Astrakhan region.
V. Savelyev noted the high dynamics of the Astrakhan Oblast transport industry development, especially the growth of cargo transportation by sea. Thus, the volume of transshipment in the seaport of Astrakhan for six months of this year increased by 22.5% to the indicator of the same period of 2023 and amounted to more than 2 million tons, and transshipment of cargo in the seaport of Olya for six months of 2024 amounted to about 750 thousand tons - it is more than 4 times higher than for the same period last year.
“Astrakhan region is a region through which Russia has access to the Caspian Sea, it opens promising routes to the Middle East, Central Asia and India. The development of the transportation complex is among the priority areas of the regional administration's policy. We highly appreciate the current results of work and support many proposed solutions,” Mr. Savelyev noted.
He also supported the initiative of Governor Igor Babushkin to launch a pilot project on the mandatory use of electronic transportation bills in the Astrakhan region for grain transportation.
“The initiative of Governor Igor Babushkin to introduce the mandatory use of electronic transportation bills is timely and correct. The introduction of new digital standards will have a positive impact on the development of the freight transportation market, create conditions for the growth of the tax base level, reduce the load on road infrastructure, and most importantly, reduce the number of road accidents. The Ministry of Transport of Russia and the Federal Tax Service of Russia supported the pilot project. In the future, it is advisable to introduce this procedure in other constituent entities of the Russian Federation,” emphasized Mr. Saveliev.
